VCB-So Totally Right

“So Wrong” was written by Vince Charming, music produced by VC & Steve Lussie, video filmed & edited by George Anderson.

“So Wrong” is pretty straight up….it’s about that amazing dichotomy of being with someone and simultaneously knowing it’s so wrong…while all the time it feels so right…if you’ve been there…you know…if you haven’t…well my friend, I wish that you never have to experience it. I wrote this to be sort of Outlaw Country and my original demo had that feel. The band transformed it into some sort of ’80’s proto-punk rock song…my vocals are all that’s left of my original demo!

So Wrong

How can something be so wrong, but feel so totally right?
I got a feeling and it’s strong, but it’s keeping me up at night
It’s a  feeling that I have to fight …keeping me up at night…
How can something be so wrong, but feel so totally right?

You say your heart’s been broken, you need space
So you just want to be friends
But then you put your arms around me
And none of that makes sense
Oh, my heart’s a pumping going boom boom boom
My heads starts spinning all around the room
Feeling like I’m lost in a country song-it’s all wrong!

How can something be so wrong, but feel so totally right?
I got a feeling and it’s strong, but it’s keeping me up at night
It’s taking me to new heights …keeping me up at night…
How can something be so wrong, but feel so totally right?

It might be true, I’m bad for you
For all of my sinful ways
But do you get a hollow feeling in your heart
When you haven’t seen me for days?
Do you hear the drums beating going boom boom boom?
You smell the jasmine now that it’s in bloom
Oh how well we get along-but it’s wrong!

Folks are saying I’m too old for you
And you’re too wild & crazy for me
My friends say, “She’ll leave you blue
How can you not see?”
But when I’m walking holding your hand
A happy feeling to beat the band
I’m wrong for you, you’re wrong for me
Doesn’t matter-don’t you see

How can something be so wrong, but feel so totally right?
My love for you is oh so strong; it’s keeping me up at night
A feeling that I have to fight
Taking me to new heights
Keeping me up at night
Keeping me up at night
How can something be so wrong, but feel so totally right?

“Wired That Way” was written by Vince Charming, music produced by VC & Steve Lussie, video filmed & edited by George Anderson.

“Wired That Way”started out as a song about me…I wrote the first chorus and knew immediately it wasn’t about me at all. I’m a fan of the teachings of Christ, but I really don’t care for hypocritical Christians…who are the target of this song…if there’s one thing I’ve learned in over 6 decades on this planet…it’s that love is truly the answer!

Wired that Way

How does who I love affect you?
How does it change your life
Why does who loves me hurt you?
Why does it cut you like a knife?
It shouldn’t matter anyway
It’s just because I’m wired that way

You sent a Christmas card holding A.R. 15’s
But think the world is in peril from book toting drag queens
Children gunned down, I can hear they’re screams
But you’d rather hate that’s how it seems…to me

How does how I dress affect you?
How does it change your life
Why does makeup on a face hurt you?
Why does it cut you like a knife?
It shouldn’t matter how I display
It’s just because we’re wired that way

The planet’s dying, just like Al said
But you rather see all of us dead
Didn’t the Son say to love one another
All the sisters and all the brothers…are we

Every Sunday you’re all praying, but forget what the Savior spoke
“Blessed are those who are persecuted” Did you write that off as woke?
So many permutations of human, trying to rise above the fray
So many weary souls tired of explaining it’s just because they’re wired that way

How does who I love affect you?
How does it change your life
Why does who loves me hurt you?
Why does it cut you like a knife?
It’s not grooming, it’s not a gateway
It’s just because we’re wired that way

“Vince’s #12 Dream” was written by Vince Charming, music produced by VC & Steve Lussie, video filmed & edited by George Anderson

My #12 Dream is a love song about a night so magical…it seemed like a dream…and yet…can a dream so sweet become real? Unlike most of the songs I’ve written in the past two years which I wrote on my Martin HD28…this one was written on my Moserite acoustic…which is what I wrote almost all my songs on starting in 1990! The band really made this song come alive and audiences at our live shows and online have gravitated towards this which warms my heart!

Vince’s #12 Dream

Last night I had a dream
Blue- grey eyes shining-a gleam
All of my shyness melting away
A scent so sweet-a sterling rose bouquet
Now by the light of day I wonder
Was it a dream or am I slipping under?

Last night I had a dream
Joy coursing through my bloodstream
Safe in the warmth of your embrace
Didn’t want to be any other place
Now I’m awake and alone
Wanting the dream to go on and on

Am I awake or am I asleep?
Aware of what’s real or deluded deep
Nothing I want more than to believe
If this isn’t real I’ll be the first to leave
But you know how much I love dreaming

Last night I had a dream
Elation to the extreme
Holding hands and your sparkling eyes
Hoping the feeling never dies
Now it’s a new day and I’m alone
Dreaming up a life I’ve been shown

Last night I had a dream….
Last night you were my dream
Last night you were a dream…
Last night I had a dream

“Never Looked Back” was written by Vince Charming, music produced by VC & Steve Lussie, video filmed & edited by George Anderson

“Never Looked Back” was my attempt to write a song from a new perspective. So often my songs are about me looking back at a situation…I wondered how it would be different from a certain woman’s perspective…and I realized the key for her was that she never looked back! I wrote this completely with the band in mind and they play it exactly how I imagined they would…all the way to Steve’s mesmerizing solo and Rick’s super cool groove!

Never Looked Back

It was one magical summer; she thought she’d met the love of her life
He was a long haired guitar player who wrote her songs both dark and light
She told him her darkest secrets
Opened the vein of all her pain
He gave her his hand to hold on to
‘Til she left on the airplane

But she never looked back
Oh she never looked back…

In the middle of a recent summer she met a man who understood
How she couldn’t be defined by the scars of her childhood
She gave him her hand to hold on to
A fit just like a glove
She thought he knew just what they were
‘Til he went and fell in love

So she never looked back
Oh she never looked back…

She had to get on with her life
No value in what’s behind
She’d never last long as someone’s wife
She could never be that confined
So she kept on walking a winding path
Leaving wreckage in a stack
Never paid any mind to the aftermath
Yeah, she always stayed on track
Because she never looked back

Somewhere near San Francisco on a hill by a boulder
A man stands facing the ocean looking over his shoulder
But she never looked back!
